In the last six months, Samuel Burton competed in Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Sherbrooke, Montreal as well as Hanover (New Hampshire) and New York. This year the Legion Canadian Youth Championships are in Langley, British Colombia. He has already met the “Gold” standard and therefore he is qualified for this important meet from August 9th to the 11th. Sam qualified for the Canadian Junior Championship in Ste-Therese. At this meet, Sam (age of 16) was competing against 20 year old athletes. He won a silver medal finishing only behind Shaw Barber (19 years old) of Texas, who is the Junior World Champion. Sam is competing in August at the Canadian Summer Games in Sherbrooke from August 10th to 18th, as a member of the Quebec Team. He will be the youngest male athlete to do so as these competitions include athletes up to the age of 22. He qualified by placing 1st in the Ian Hume track meet last June in Sherbrooke.
